Environmental Strategy

Objectives for 2030

Our vision is that BrandHK will have a positive impact on the environment, that “business as usual” will be regenerative. This means:

  • By 2025 we will achieve carbon neutrality through the use of carbon offsets, as a stepping stone to achieve the following.
  • Our emissions of greenhouse gases (CO2 equivalents) will be zero or negative (absorbing more emissions from the atmosphere).
  • Our impact on biodiversity will be positive, improving the quality of the natural environment, and the human environment. This will include reducing pollution, harmful waste, water use and other factors to levels that are sustainable.
  • That these measures will be true throughout the lifecycle of our products and services, and throughout our supply chains and onward distribution.

Why do it?

The climate and environmental emergency is now “mainstream”, and action to tackle it is supported throughout the business world and all sections of society. In many ways, businesses are moving faster than governments, but there is more to be done.

BrandHK is an intermediary supplier, but we still have an important role in “making the market” for more sustainable products. Over the last 10 years we have steadily sought and added more sustainable products to our catalogue.

What have we done?

Achieve 10% of our catalogue are environmentally friendly alternatives to standard products.COMPLETED
Make it easier to find eco-friendly choices through the introduction of ECO tags and filters in our catalogue.COMPLETED

What will we do?

Our plans are clearly defined up to 2025. By 2025 we will achieve carbon neutrality through the use of carbon offsets.

In 2023

Publish carbon emissions for all of our products and provide the facility for customers to calculate the emissions of any order.COMPLETED
Calculate and publish BrandHK’s internal emissions (excluding supply chain).IN PROGRESS
Enable customers to choose lower-emission products through improved search, product labelling and catalogue functions.COMPLETED
Provide offsetting as a service to all of our customers as part of the purchase process.COMPLETED

In 2024

Change all of our business activities so that they move us towards being carbon neutral.
Establish supply chain processes to support carbon reductions.
Support local networks for regenerative business, so we can work with stakeholders to improve carbon reduction in businesses in Hong Kong.

In 2025

Achieve carbon-neutral (with offsets).
Extend our greenhouse gas emissions approach to other environmental factors such as pollution or water use.
